HARTFORD — The state Supreme Court has upheld a $4.2 million verdict against a Norwich obstetrics group for injuries sustained to a baby girl during birth. The state’s highest court upheld a lower court ruling that OB-GYN Services had waited too long before taking an appeal of the jury’s verdict.

In their lawsuit, the parents of the child claimed their daughter sustained severe and permanent nerve damage following her 2009 birth.
“The child had severe nerve damage that will prevent her from having use of her arm for the rest of her life,”

The obstetric group had waited beyond the 20-day mandatory period to file an appeal of the jury’s verdict, according to the Supreme Court.
